The world was spinning when Xander awoke.

He was starving.

A quick and steady ‘thump, thump, thump’ echoed through his brain. It was…compelling.

He turned toward the noise, surprised to see his father crumpled against the wall in the entryway. Xander could smell the alcohol from the couch, but there was an underlying aroma, sharp and spicy, like curried chicken.

Xander began to salivate.

He caught movement out of the corner of his eye: pale, blonde, dark leather coat.

Spike.

Sire.

Spike smirked. “Eat all you like, Pet. Won’t cost you a thing.”

Xander’s fangs lengthened.

His father screamed.
