Part Twenty-Six

"Well, I don't know, Xander. That just seems so undignified." William's prudish tone was in direct contrast with the fact that he was rapidly stripping off his clothes. Dropping down to sit on the floor he had kept his pants in his hand and was now rummaging through the pockets. Proudly he found what he brought and waved both the small tube of lube and the condom in front of Xander's face.

In the short time they had been together William had not only come out of his shell he had, it seemed to Xander, become insatiable.

Undressing, Xander dropped down to his knees and gently pushed William on to his back in the plush warm carpet. Crawling up his body, Xander kissed him deeply. Pulling back he leaned in and nibbled Will's earlobe, sucking it slowly.

"Xander," Will tried to keep his focus. He had been trying to get up the courage for this conversation for some time. "Xander, I need to ask you something."

Never losing concentration, Xander licked and kissed his neck. "What is it Baby?"

Will groaned and tried to coax Xander's hands and lips lower.

"I have a book, Xander. It says if you are tested and proven free of - you know - anything, you don't need to use a condom. Could we do that?"

Xander looked up from the tongue fucking he was giving Will's belly button. "Got an appointment for Monday morning. Anything else?"

Smiling, Will laid his head back. "No, I believe that is all. You may continue." It was all said so briskly and properly Xander moaned and paused to keep from coming.

Xander quickly rolled the condom on and grabbed up the lube. Putting some on his fingers, he rubbed slowly over Will's hole watching it twitch and tighten in response. Xander gripped Will's cock in his fist and slowly jacked him. Not near enough pressure or speed to help him reach orgasm. Just enough to keep that warm tingle in his balls and the slit bubbling slick. It was exactly the slow torture Will loved. "Please, Xander, hurry."

"What do you want, Baby?" Xander slid one finger in and very lightly brushed over that sweet spongy spot deep inside. Will grunted and thrust his hips up trying to force more, deeper, harder, something. Pulling out Xander reentered him with two fingers.

Now pumping his cock harder and faster, finally pressing his prostate and swiping his thumb over the head at the same time. "Xan, damn! Please, Xan, please."

Xander smiled. Will was wiggling and getting louder, but Xander knew he could do better. Pulling his fingers out, Xander generously lubed up his cock and lined it up with Will's wet open hole. Lifting Will's legs over his shoulders, Xander eased his way in. Lifting Will's hips, Xander gave one last push and was fully seated. Holding as still as possible, Xander tried to give Will a chance to adjust.

Will ran his hands over Xander's chest. He was so amazingly strong, and broad. Xander was the sexiest man Will had ever known.

Feeling Xander's nipples harden under his palms, Will got an idea. Pinching Xander's nipples and squeezing his ass as tight as he could got exactly the reaction he hoped for. Xander automatically pulled back and slammed home. "Fuck! Jesus, that feels good. Do it again, Baby."

So everytime Xander hit Will's hot spot he would squeeze. Both were getting close. Xander was pounding harder than he knew he should, but he couldn't stop. Will could do nothing but shout "Xander, fuck, Xander!"

Finally the last squeeze was all he could stand. "Damn, come with me, Baby. Christ, Will I love you."  Will knew hearing those words would always trigger his heart and body to react. Arching up he cried out Xander's name one more time and came all over his stomach and Xander's hand.

Holding the end of the condom, he slowly pulled out, removed it and tied it off. Xander flopped down beside Will, kissing his face and nuzzling his hair. "So have we seen it all?" Xander laughed.

Will's eyes lit up. Jumping to his feet he put his over shirt back on using his t-shirt to clean up with. Tossing it to Xander he hurried and dressed. "No, hurry, you haven't seen the best part." Will was dressed and gone. Xander groaned. Damn, what happened to afterglow?

Will was only four years younger. 'Where the fuck does he get all that energy?' Xander rolled over and forced himself to his feet. He dressed and carrying the offending t-shirt, went back downstairs. Will was nowhere to be seen.
"Will?"

"Back here."

Xander followed the voice to the rear of the house. Will was waiting on him by a set of double french doors. "Xander, look!" Will was vibrating all over with excitement. "Come and see"

As Xander approached, Will threw open the doors and stepped outside. Following him out Xander was struck silent by what he saw. Will was absolutely glowing in the morning sun. His hair shone like gold and Xander had never seen his eyes so blue. William was the most perfect man he had ever known. His heart swelled.

He was laughing and twirling, arms flung out, as he danced in the center of a huge garden. The foliage was badly neglected, but even Xander could see its potential. "I can make it wonderful for us, Xander. I remember everything Grandda taught me, and with my gardening books I can make it come to life. This will be our world, Xander. Isn't it wonderful?"

God, it broke Xander's heart to have to tell him no. Maybe if they could find something else. Something smaller, with a yard. "Will, sweetheart, you know I love you, and if there were any way possible, but we can't afford this. I don't know how much they're asking, but it's too much. All the money you put up for the business is going to have to be used for start up costs. I promise later on we will try to find something nice."

Xander braced himself. He expected tears, yelling, crying, something, but not the new Will he was getting to know. "Xander, dear, there are some business aspects here you are failing to note. First, property values in Sunnydale are amazingly low. I gave them an offer, and it was accepted."

Xander took a step back "You what!?"

Calmly lifting his hand to effectively shut him up, Will continued. "Second, I had the money transferred and have already purchased it. Third we lease the garage to the business for $1.00 a year, rent the apartment to Miss Willow, also for $1.00 and then write everything off as business expenses. It is strictly good economics. Now are you going to give me trouble or just move in here and let me take care of you?" William tried his best to look annoyed, but failed badly.

Grabbing him up around the waist, Xander pulled him tightly and kissed him deeply and lovingly. "How did you get so smart?"

William blushed at the compliment. "I guess it comes from reading a book or two."

"Just two?" Xander laughed. "When can we move in?"

Part Twenty-Seven

Xander couldn't remember the last time he was this nervous. He twitched in the unaccustomed feel of the suit and tugged at the strangling hold the tight white collar had on his throat. Slapping his hand away William straightened Xander's tie and smoothed his lapels. "Stop fidgeting! You look amazing. Do you have everything you need?  What time is your appointment?"

"Clinic is at nine a.m. and my appointment with the project owner is at ten." Xander opened the briefcase one more time to recheck all the paperwork he had looked over at least one hundred times already.

"You are going to do wonderfully. I have every faith in you. Besides, Larry got more evidence than we could have hoped for and Miss Willow did a brilliant job of putting it all together. All you have to do is present it in a way this Mr. Giles can understand."

"Yeah," Xander laughed weakly "Piece of cake"

Calmly William reclosed the case and handed it to Xander. "Xander, whether we take over this project or wait till the next one, the business will still be a huge success. You are very knowledgeable and intellegent. I am proud of you and I love you. You are a good man, Xander. Now get your ass out that door and call me when you know something."
William opened the door and pushed Xander out.

Turning back before he left, Xander kissed Will passionately. "I love you Will." With that, he was gone.

It seemed like the longest morning of William's life. He paced the length of the apartment so often he worried he might
wear a path in the carpet. Watching the clock he mentally mapped Xander's trail.

8:45. Probably arrived at the clinic.

9:00 Gave blood for the test.

9:15 Back in the car and headed for Dover, the next town over, and the offices of Giles & Patrick. William knew Xander's appointment was with Mr.Giles himself. He was the majority owner in the medical complex that the McDonald construction company was working on.

9:30 The mailman came and dropped off the usual stack of junk and bills. One letter, however caught his eye. It was addressed to William, but at Xander's address. Inside was a short, formally written note on business stationary.

Dearest William,
Please forgive me for violating your orders.
I did some checking on your Mr. Harris and find your assessment
of his character to be most accurate.
You have chosen well.
Much affection,

Ethan Rayne.

Confidence and pride bolstered William's anticipation. At 9:50 he knew Xander must have arrived and was probably in the outer office waiting. Interlocking his fingers tightly together William tucked them under his chin and prayed. "If you're listening, Grandda, please watch over Xander."

Xander pulled into the parking lot and glanced down at his watch. 9:50. Funny, he had been so nervous his stomach had been in knots. Now, suddenly he felt a calm come over him. A confidence. He knew he could do this. He was ready.

Marching into the waiting room, Xander approached the blond at the front desk and smiled. "Good morning. Alexander Harris to see Mr. Rupert Giles. I'm with the Wilxan construction company and I have a 10:00 appointment."

The blond smiled back. "Good morning Mr. Harris. Mr. Giles is expecting you. Please go right in." The receptionist, Harmony, according to the name plate on her desk, pointed in the direction of the office to the side of the room.
Knocking briefly, Xander opened the door and stepped in.

"Mr. Giles? I'm Alexander Harris. I appreciate you seeing me on such short notice."

"Good morning, Mr. Harris. I must say I was intrigued when you called last week. You say this involves problems on the construction site?"

With that, Xander opened his case and spread the papers out in front of them. Giles scanned them quickly then called Harmony and instructed her to hold all his calls. Xander was relieved to find that although Giles was not entirely knowledgeable on construction matters, he was extremely bright and able to quickly grasp what was being shown and explained to him.

The invoices and cost discrepancies told a story of theft and greed. Fortunately Lindsey was not as skilled as he prided himself to be at covering his tracks.

What wasn't as clear was what involvement his uncle had in the scam. He was either another victim of Lindsey, or much more skilled in hiding his guilt. That was something to be sorted out by the authorities.

The meeting lasted through the morning and long into the afternoon. Mr. Giles questioned Xander in depth as to what damage had already been done, and what would be required cost and time wise to correct it. He was amazed and impressed at the knowledge and professionalism of the young man in his office. He was also enormously grateful.
If this had not been brought to him, well, he shuddered to think what might have happened.

Finally Xander advised him that the Attorney General had been informed of the situation. Mr. Giles flinched. Yes of course that had to be done in order to bring appropriate charges against the McDonalds. "It does mean that the site will be shut down until a contingency plan is written and approved by the state authorities."

Giles tried to mentally calculate how much time that would consume.

With that, Xander brought out all the facts, figures and the plans he had prepared. Giles called Harmony to order in lunch and they sat down together.

William could not stand the wait any longer. Dialing the number by heart, Will continued to pace.

"Xander? Will? Hello?"

"It's me, Miss Willow. He has been gone for hours. What do you think is happening? Why is it taking so long? It must be bad news. He would call if it was good news. What do you think?"

"I think you need to calm down, Sweety. Have you eaten today?"

"No. I'm much too nervous. So you think it will be all right?"

"I think it will be fine. How about if I come over and fix you something."

The last thing Will wanted was food, but having Willow come over and wait with him sounded wonderful. "Yes, please. I would like that."

Xander had started to collect together his paperwork and stack it back in his briefcase. Most of it had been copied and was being used to develop a file for Mr. Giles office. They had come to a preliminary agreement. In two days time the site would be shut down and the office padlocked.

Mr. Giles would work with his own investigators as well as the authorities to confiscate all the contents as evidence. If what Xander said was true, the corruption was going to spread far beyond the work site and involve both OSHA and local inspectors.

The weeks it is shut down will be used by Xander's company to prepare the finalized bid figures and ready the equipment and workers. The job was theirs.

Walking him to the door, Mr Giles shook Xander's hand. "I can't thank you enough Mr.Harris. You have saved me more than you can imagine. If this project had continued, I would have been ruined. I won't forget this."

"I promise you we'll do our best, Mr. Giles. And please, call me Xander. After all, we're going to be working together for some time."

Giles smiled warmly and patted Xander on the back as he left. As soon as he got in the car, Xander grabbed his cell and
speed dialed Will.

Part Twenty-Eight

William thought he would absolutely explode if he didn't hear something soon. Willow, God love her, had arrived about an hour ago and was adding to his agitation with constant offers of food and tea. As much as he did love her, he just may have to stuff her in a closet and lock the door. That idea caused William to giggle when he realized the she would be the only one in the household still in the closet.

"What's the joke, Sweety?" Willow was delighted to see Will relax slightly.

"Just thinking about closets, Miss Willow." Before he had the chance to explain further, the phone finally rang.

Both diving for it, William was first. "Hello?"  The greeting came out questioning, cautious, loving, supportive, everything Will could pack into one word.

"Will? Baby? Brace yourself. We are in business!!" Xander immediately held the phone away from his ear and waited.....

"YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!"

William felt like they had just won the lottery. Like a magic star had exploded and he had caught a piece of it. Remembering the phone still in his hand, he shouted in its general direction  "Hurry home! I love you!" Without waiting on a response, he tossed the phone on the sofa.

He and Willow hugged, bounced and squealed. His brain was spinning. All the things that needed to be done. It was overwhelming.

William could not comprehend the turns his life had suddenly taken. Less than a month ago he was alone, now he had a home, a family, a new business, and most of all, he had Xander. Looking up to the heavens, he silently mouthed, "thank you"

Scratching his head with both hands William resumed his pacing. "So much to do. Xander is going to be busy with the business and the bid work, so it is going to fall to us to pack up all three of our residences and get settled in the new house. I really believe it would be most expeditious to hire movers to assist with the lifting."

William had been so lost in his own thoughts he failed to notice Willow's confusion. "Pack up what to move where? What house, William?"

Crossing his arms over his chest William turned to face Willow. "Goodness, Miss Willow, please do try to keep up." Quickly describing the house set up and the proposed move did very little to resolve Willow's confusion.

"O.k. Enough pacing." Willow took Will by the hand and led him over to the couch. Sitting down together she forced him to look her in the eye and focus on the issue at hand. "Now Will, you are going to tell me just what is going on."

Taking in a deep breath, Will spilled all the facts about the money, the house, the apartment, and the business. He finished just as the air in that breath ran out.

"You and Xander want me to live with you?"

Will was shocked that she would even ask. "Of course! And the best part? The apartment has a mud room." Realization lit up her eyes and together they hugged and screamed "A CAT!!"

Xander entered the apartment to find them still giggling and talking animatedly. Bouncing together, they failed to notice him till he was just a few feet away. Standing for a second to enjoy the sight, he smiled and caught their attention. "Well, look at you two. Should I be jealous?"

Both heads snapped in his direction, and they rushed to embrace him. Dropping his briefcase, Xander scooped up Willow on one side and William on the other. The three of them continued to jump together till the threat of sea sickness loomed on the horizon.

"Whoa. Enough" Xander laughed. "Let me get a shower, change, and I think a celebration dinner is in order." Loosening his tie, Xander headed toward the bathroom.

William watched him go and finally tuned toward Willow. "Um, I think maybe I will see if Xander needs anything." Easing his way to the bedroom he then quickly ducked in.

'Oh dang.' Willow's gaze followed Will's departure. 'I sure hope the new house is soundproofed' Despite turning the volume up on the television, there was no doubt the two in the shower had to be "Xan, Oh God, Xan." and "Will, Baby, Yes ugh, yes." Willow couldn't fight the smile that attached itself to her face. She wondered if Will had any idea how he had changed their lives.

It was obvious that Xander was deeply in love. Will seemed to fill in a missing part of her brother and make him a better man. He was happier than she had ever seen him, and that in turn made her happy. She and Xander had always been close, but in the last few years they had drifted apart.

Xander was unhappy at work and unfulfilled in his personal life. He didn't want to talk about it and he pulled away from her. She knew he had been with a lot of men, but none of them were the right ones. She could see that. She wondered why he couldn't.

Now Will was here. It felt like he had always been part of their lives. He was family. 'Now if I could just find that someone special.'

"Well I don't know about you two, but I'm hungry enough to eat a horse." Xander and Will had dressed and returned to the living room, both looking very relaxed and refreshed. Willow chose to live in denialville and pretend it was due to the good news Xander had brought with him.

As the hero of the day, Xander got to pick the restaurant. A small tackily decorated Italian place that went by the attemptedly authentic name of Spaghetta Villa. For tonight, however, they could have gone anywhere and nothing could put a damper on the mood.

Wine and conversation flowed freely. Xander told in detail how his meeting went. William and Willow hanging on every word, interrupting constantly with a million questions. Everyone in turn throwing out ideas, plans, each in their own world, each world spinning, combining, and bouncing off the other two.

Xander sat back giving his own excitement a chance to calm and simmer. Watching his companions chatter on without him soothed and pleased him. Yet even with all the good news and the start of a new phase of life, Xander knew there was unfinished business.

One last boulder in the road that really needed to be dealt with before they could move past it. As much as he wanted to shoulder the weight of that burden he also understood William would never be truly his own man till he faced it himself.
One thing was sure. Lindsey was fucked. Xander would make sure of that.

Part Twenty-Nine

The evening had been exhilarating. All three sat back in their chairs and rubbed tummies that were over stuffed on pasta, bread and wine. The electricity had finally played itself out and the mood was relaxed and mellow. Waiting while the dishes were cleared, Xander poured each another glass of wine. "We have another issue we need to deal with." Looking from one to the other, he knew they understood what that issue was. Placing his hand on top of Will's he continued. "I really don't think you can move forward, Baby till you put this to rest."

Hanging his head Will took a deep breath. Then lifting his eyes up, he looked stronger than Xander had ever seen him. "I'm only a baby for you, Xan. I'm ready to be a man and stand on my own."

Willow took Will's other hand and squeezed. "You're not on your own. Xander and I will always support you, but he's right. This needs to come from you."

The atmosphere surrounding them changed. The discussion in the restaurant turned to planning of a different kind. Several ideas were discussed and discarded. Xander explained that part of his agreement with Mr. Giles was that Giles would make no move for two more days. That would give Xander time to deal with labor and union issues on the site before it was padlocked.

Xander did not say anything regarding the personal problems he was facing, but Giles knew instinctively that there were deeper conflicts involved. Trusting the young man he had just met, Giles agreed to hold off without asking questions he knew Xander would not want to answer.

Time and other patrons in the restaurant came and went, but they remained. One more bottle of wine and the conversation continued.

Now however, it was mainly between Xander and Willow. William had gone quiet and retreated into his own thoughts and memories. He knew what to do. He knew how he would handle it.

Willow went back to her own place that night. Using the excuse she needed to start getting some of her belongings organized for packing. Xander and Will knew the truth when she told them she had to pack up her cat. Willow understood the men needed privacy for their intimacy. Tonight was for a deeper bonding and connecting than just sex. William needed Xander's strength and support, and Xander needed to feel Will's love.

Dropping her at her apartment, Willow kissed each on the cheek. "I love you guys." Then holding Will's face in her hands, she kissed his forehead and whispered "Everything is going to be fine. I have faith in you William."  Before she could see the tears in his eyes, she was gone.

Both men were quiet when they arrived home a few minutes later. Kicking off his shoes William was distracted and somber. It wasn't really late, but the day had been such a roller coaster of emotions he felt drained and exhausted. He was also feeling the effects of too much wine and pasta on a nervous stomach. "Do you mind if we lay down for a bit? I could do with snuggle and a snooze."

Wrapping his arms around William's waist, Xander pulled him in close. "That's exactly what I had in mind. Would you make love to me William?'

Chuckling, Will cuddled in closer. "You know I always want to make love with you." That's when the true
meaning of Xander's words started to sink in. Pulling back away, Will's eyebrows shot up and he could only sputter. "You mean you want me to.....you?"

"You said it yourself tonight. You are a man full grown." Taking him by the hand, Xander started backing towards the bedroom.

William was nervous.

He was hesitant.

He was instantly hard as a rock.

Standing by the bed with his eyes locked on Xander's he stood unmoving as Xander slowly started unbuttoning his shirt. Finally the reality of the situation struck him and his muscles and brain unlocked. "STOP!"

Xander had unbuttoned his shirt and just started to remove it when he halted. William reached over and took hold of Xander's lapels. "I'll do that." William had decided to show Xander just how much a man he could be.

Stripping off the shirt he slowly dropped to his knees in front of Xander and popped the button on his pants. Xander gasped at the sight in front of him. William pulled the zipper down, catching Xander's heavy cock as it fell from his open pants.

Holding it in his hand, William lifted his hooded eyes slowly. When he knew Xander was hooked and could not look away, he licked a strip from the base to the tip of Xander's cock. Stabbing his tongue in the slit, he sought out the fluid that had not yet worked it's way up. William held just the head in his lips, at the same time reaching up and grasping the waist band of Xander's jeans.

Dropping his mouth and hands at the same time William sucked and tugged till Xander was both naked and moaning. Sliding his thick cock as far into his mouth as he could, William brushed his nose into Xander's wiry hairs. Inhaling deeply he reveled in the masculine smell of the man he loved. Releasing his cock with one last lick, William rose to his feet.

Smacking Xander soundly on the ass he pointed to the bed. "Lay down and spread yourself for me." William hoped his voice sounded more confident than he felt.

Holy Mary on a mule!! Xander had never heard anything as erotic as this baby faced blond blue eyed angel tossing him orders like a drill sergeant. He instantly did as he was told. William undressed and crawled up the bed. Sitting on his knees between Xander's legs, he stared at the most perfect cock in the world.

But the time for window shopping was past. He had made the purchase and he was taking this puppy home. Collecting the necessary equipment, he casually tossed the condom to Xander. "Put this on me." He hoped the order sounded strong and didn't reveal the fact that his hands were shaking so badly he didn't think he would be able to slide it on himself.

Xander fumbled and fitted it like it was his first time. His only fear now was that he would come the instant William touched him again. William sat back on his heels allowing his condom covered cock to jut proudly away from his body.

Xander had only allowed one or two men to top him, but right now it seemed like the best idea in the world. He ached to feel William enter him. "Come on, Will I need to feel you."

Trying to remember what Xander did to get him ready, Will poured some slick on Xander's balls and watched it run down to coat his hole. Scooping and swirling his fingers in the oil, Will pushed one finger into Xander's body.

Groaning, Xander opened his legs and relaxed his hole. Encouraged, William began sliding the finger back and forth, deeper each time. Putting a second finger with it, William knew he still hadn't found that spot inside Xander that would shoot the sparks through him like a tazer. "Help me find it, Xander."

So lost in the wonderful feel of William taking over his body, Xander had almost forgotten about that. Reaching down between his legs Xander held William's wrist, stilling his fingers inside. Arching himself Xander struck the nub and instantly felt the shock. "Jesus, Will, that's it. Right there."

That was all the direction Will needed, massaging and striking the spot over and over again, Xander became a writhing mass of need. "No more, Will. I'll come. I need you in me when I come. Please, baby,"

Quickly oiling up his covered cock, William lined the head up and pushed. It was tight. Tighter than William was prepared for. He paused again, and just as he was about to ask for further instruction, it popped through. They both clutched the bedding in effort to stop an immediate orgasm.

After a moment's hesitation, William began to move. He pulled back and eased forward. The next push was harder, the third, faster. Losing himself in the feel, William let go. He pounded as hard and as deep as he could. He could never have imagined anything as wonderful as this.

His only regret was that he knew this would be a short ride. He could already feel his balls ache and tingle. Shifting his weight to one arm, he wrapped his fist around Xander's bouncing cock.

"Fuck, Will, Pound harder, Baby. Fuck that feels so good. Squeeze my cock. I want to blow all over your hand."

Sliding his oily hand up Xander's cock, Will brushed his thumb roughly over the head. That was the final trigger. Stiffening, Xander came, all his muscles tightening up.

The grip of Xander's ass around William's cock finished him also. Shoving in as deep as he could, William could feel the condom fill with the hot wet fluid of William's balls.

As quickly as they had stiffened, both their bodies relaxed and they fell loose as though their bones had turned to rubber. Rolling over to face him, Xander brushed the hair back from William's face "You're a hell of a top."

Smiling, William rubbed his face into Xander's hand like a cat. "It certainly was wonderful, but I believe I prefer being the subservient, if you don't mind."

Laughing, Xander scooped him in close and kissed him passionately. "I don't believe I mind at all."

Part Thirty

William rolled over and looked at the man sleeping beside him. Xander's face was covered in stubble. His hair stood on end and a little drool escaped his snoring lips. William's heart swelled with love. Taking one last look, he slipped quietly out of bed. He knew Xander would sit down with him this morning and craft an idea for dealing with this situation, but William wanted to do this on his own. He had a plan.

He had been awake most of the night working, reworking and tweaking it in his mind. He knew what he wanted to do and was anxious to get started. Grabbing his clothes he crept out of the bedroom, dressed and scribbled a quick note.

He needed just three more things. Xander's cell phone, his car keys, and the brown envelope he knew Miss Willow had hidden in a kitchen cupboard. Pausing as he walked out the door, William looked up. "Let's do this, Grandda."

Barely five A.M. The sun was not yet up. William drove directly to his old room off campus. Parking at the curb, he walked through the front door. It seemed odd to be back here. He hadn't returned since the morning Xander and Willow had taken him from his past into his future.

Looking around didn't invoke any emotion at all. He could hardly remember all the months he had held himself prisoner in this small cell. The misery and unhappiness were irrelevant. He would not waste any more of his life on regret.

He did still smile at the comfort the books and stories had given him. Walking around the room he ran his hands lovingly across the spines and bindings of his old friends. "Enough." He checked himself. No time for this now. Rummaging through his reference books he found what he needed and rapidly scribbled some notes.

Next he reached under his bed for his backpack. Feeling around inside he located a small hand held tape recorder he had been given years ago to assist with his school studies. Collecting together his paperwork and needed supplies, William ran a mental check list. He was ready. Taking one last look around, William walked out pulling the door shut behind him.

Jumping back in Xander's car, he headed to his next stop. The university. He had called in a couple weeks ago and pled off sick. He knew Mr. Rayne had probably paid the university to provide William a job so not coming in was no big loss, on either side.

The sun was just starting to rise, and the campus was coming alive with the movement of early students. Some rushing home from a long night. Some in groups searching for a place to go for breakfast before facing the day.

William had always felt like an intruder here, an alien in a world he could never acclimate too. Funny thing was, this morning he did seem to belong. He was just another young man on campus. Rushing with a purpose to a goal. Arriving at the library, William took the steps two at a time. Dashing inside he aimed for the back where the public use computers were kept.

"William?" Hearing his name called caught him off guard. Searching for the source of the voice, he noticed a slim man approaching from the nearby book stacks. Realization and recognition struck as William faced the Library Master.

He had only seen him once before when he first came to work here and was shocked that the man even knew who he was. "Mr.Pryce?"

"Yes, William. We have all been very concerned about you. Many of the students have asked after you. You look very well. Will you be returning to us soon?"

William fought back the tears. He was known. He had been missed. That was so totally unexpected. Could he have been mistaken? Was his life not at all as he had seen it? But there was no time for this reflection now. "No sir. I have taken on a new business venture and a partner and will be unable to resume my duties, but I do thank you so much for all you have done for me."

Stepping forward with his head held high William extended his hand. Shaking it briefly, Mr.Pryce pulled him in for a quick hug and back pat. "I am very pleased for you, Son. Please do take care, and we will all be very offended if you don't stop in for a visit now and again." With that the Librarian was gone. William shook his head. It was all something he would examine and think about later.

Right now he was feeling very James Bond and needed to refocus on the mission. Using some of the notes he had made from his research books he accessed records, some public, some low security that were not difficult to hack. The more he dug, the more he found. It was everything he had hoped for, and extra. It took longer to retrieve the print outs than it took to collect the facts.  "Tisk, tisk, Mr. McDonald. How very sloppy of you."

Finally the one thing William dreaded had to be done next. Using Xander's cell phone William checked the number he had located earlier, and dialed. On the third ring, it was answered. William started the conversation by explaining who he was and apologizing for what he was about to do. Surprisingly the call was not the shock he had feared it would be. The recipient was pleasant, receptive, and by the end of the call, very agreeable and grateful.

Everything was in place. Checking the clock on the wall, William saw he was actually ahead of schedule. Whistling, he sauntered over to the student union for a cup of coffee.

~*~*~*~*~

Reaching for William was his new old habit. It was the first thing he did upon waking. He hated those rare mornings when the bed was empty. When William got up early for a cup of tea and the newspaper, or maybe a quick trip to the bathroom.

Listening, Xander heard no water so he knew it wasn't a "tea deposit" as Will delicately referred to it. Stumbling, he stuck his head in the kitchen, "Hey, Baby, you in here?" Xander smiled, wondering how difficult it was going to be to locate Will when they moved into that bigger house, and what all he could do to him when he found him.

"Will?" The kitchen was empty. Xander was confused. All three things struck him at once. He found and read the note. He noticed his car keys gone. He knew his cell was too. Grabbing up the kitchen phone he dialed quickly. "Willow. Get over here, NOW!" He hung up and dialed his cell phone.

William looked down at the phone as it rang. 'Well.' He shrugged  'Xander is up.' He checked the time on the phone. 7:00 a.m. Time to go. He turned off the phone without answering and headed for the car.

Pulling into the construction site parking lot he noticed the van sitting to the side. Approaching it he saw the driver roll down the window. Smiling warmly he put his hands on the door. "Good morning. I'm William. I'm very sorry we had to meet this way, but I greatly appreciate your assistance."

Returning the smile, the driver stopped him  "No, I am the one who is grateful. You have done more for me than you can imagine. Are you ready?"

"I do believe we both are. Before we begin, here are copies of the printouts I promised you." Handing the papers to the driver, William turned to go. He smiled broadly as he heard the driver gasp.

Part Thirty-One

Summoning all his courage, William stepped away from the van, turned and walked straight for the office. Two quick firm knocks and William entered without waiting for a response. Leaving the door slightly ajar he stepped inside.
Starting to yell on the first knock, Lindsey was not in the mood for shit first thing this morning  "Fuck Off....."

Recognizing William, infuriated him. "What the hell do you want?" Lindsey jumped to his feet behind his desk.
William did not allow himself to flinch, he would not be intimidated. He momentarily placed his hand in his pocket then removed it.

Approaching the desk, Will threw the brown envelope on Lindsey's desk. "I believe this is yours. Do what you want with it. The information is a matter of public record, and nothing you can hurt me with."

Shocked, Lindsey stepped back. "What? That shit isn't mine? Why the fuck would I care who you killed?" As soon as the words left his mouth, Lindsey and William both knew he had fucked up. "You fuckin' little bitch. You think Xander is going to stay with you? He'll fuck you and leave you."

"Just like he did with you, Lindsey?"

Lindsey was furious, his face red and spit flying on each word. "I love Xander! What we have is deeper than sex. You just wait and see. He will get sick of you and come back to me!"

Frowning thoughtfully William tilted his head to the side. "What about your wife? Does she suspect where your true interest lies?"

Laughing cruelly Lindsey spit out "That cow? Fuck her. She hasn't got a clue."

"Does she have a clue about all the hidden bank accounts you have?"

Lindsey's eyebrows shot up. Suddenly the fire was gone from his tone. "What?' He laughed nervously "What bank accounts?"

Pulling out a piece of paper, William began reading off bank names and account numbers. He had information on everything as well as following the trail of money to and from the kick backs and payoffs.

Lindsey was speechless. Finally coming to a conclusion his whole body relaxed. Sitting back down he tilted his chair back and with his hands behind his head he chuckled. "O.k., yeah, you got me. I wrote the note. I skimmed the money and hid it under false names so the stupid little woman can't find it, and I authorized all the cost cutters on this hell hole of a work site. You only have one problem Willy, my boy, I've covered all my tracks. Even if you run straight to the authorities, I can have all the money pulled, my bags packed, and be gone before they can even try to find the evidence.
It's the word of a murderer against the word of an honest businessman. You, my friend, are screwed."

Calmly reaching back in his pocket, William pulled out the tape recorder. "Of course a taped confession is fairly good proof. Almost as good as a witness." At that, the door pushed open and in stepped Sherry, Lindsey's wife.

Lindsey's chair settled back on all four legs with a thunk!  "No, I'm afraid it is you, my sweetheart that is screwed. I have already contacted the institutions holding these accounts by cell phone just minutes ago, and had them frozen.

By the way, California is a community property state, so after the authorities are done with you, if there is anything
left, it will be a nice start on my new life. After you pay for the divorce, of course."

Turning his furious eyes on William, Lindsey exploded. "You fuckin' bitch!" Scrambling over the top of his desk, Lindsey lunged for William's throat. "I'll fuckin' kill you" He flew through the air. In the last second before he could connect with William who was now frozen with fear, the door burst open and Xander charged in.

Slamming his fist into Lindsey's face Xander came back with his other fist into his stomach knocking Lindsey to the floor. Rushing in on his heels Willow threw herself around William, checking him for injuries. Still slightly shaking William hugged her back. "I'm fine Miss Willow, I'm fine"

Grabbing him close in a rough and clumsy hug Xander stuck his nose in the side of William's neck breathing deeply.
"Jesus, Will, what were you thinking?" Pulling back, Xander could see the excitement sparkling in Will's blue eyes.

"It was like in one of my mystery and adventure books. I was the spy, and I needed to collect the evidence and capture the villain."  Handing the still recording tape machine to Xander he continued to explain, "All the proof is here. He thought he could win, but I flipped the script on him."

"You sure did, Baby. God, I love you Will. I just wish you would have let me help you. You scared the shit out of me!"
Only Willow noticed the look on Lindsey's face at Xander's words of love.

The rest of the morning was a flurry of activity. The authorities Xander contacted arrived minutes later and the site was padlocked. All the books as well as the taped confession were confiscated. Lindsey was cuffed and taken away.

Sherry left soon after and was later found to have taken the money from one of the hidden accounts and left town with a garage mechanic she had been having an affair with. Will and Xander couldn't find the interest to care.

The news from the clinic had come in on the following Monday. Xander was negative. William was ready. Monday night was celebrated in true bareback style, with cowboy music playing in the background.

The next two weeks were spent moving into the new house. All of Willow's things were settled into the apartment and the mud room was fitted with a scratching pole and litter pan.

Xander's things were next. The furniture that had crowded his old place left the new house looking empty and barren.
Squealing and jumping together Willow and Will shouted "Shopping!"  Xander shook his head and hid before they could include him.

Will's room at the university was last. Together Xander and Will unlocked the door and stepped inside. "Is there really anything in here that you need?"

Looking around, William turned to face the other man. "This was my life, Xander. I know it is hard to understand, but all my hopes and dreams were in here. Those were the stories that I read to give me the courage to speak to you."

"You're right, Baby. Whatever you want to take we will box up and ship. God knows we have the room."

The next several hours were spent sorting and stacking. One side of the room was the books to keep. Reference, information, some history, some biography. Off to the side was a small stack that he had designated to be donated back to the school.

These were the romance and love stories. Well worn and lovingly read.

Surprised, Xander flipped through the top paperback. "Sure you don't want to take these with you?"

Taking it from Xander's hand he put it back on the pile. Wrapping his arms around Xander's neck, William pulled him in close and whispered in his ear. "I don't need them any more. I already found my happily ever after."
